“Be a HERO” – Seeds of Faith – August 27, 2018

Dear friends,
August 27, 2018 is National Heroes Day in the Philippines in honor of the heroes who fought for the independence of the Philippines.
How can our faith in Jesus Christ makes us a hero? What kind of HERO is Jesus expecting us to be?
First, a Christian hero is someone who H – Helps those who are in need.
In Matthew 25:42ff Jesua reminds us that when we give food to the hungry, water to the thirsty, friendship to a stranger, clothes to those who have none, and we look after those who are sick and in prison, we are doing it to Him.
Second, a Christian hero is someone who E – Enlightens those who are in darkness.
Before we can enlighten others, we first must see to it that we are not in darkness. In Luke 11:36 Jesus said, “Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be completely lighted, as when the light of a lamp shines on you.” Yes, it is Jesus’ light that is shining through us.
Third, a Christian hero is someone who R – Remembers others in prayer.
Jesus taught his disciples Luke 6:28 not just to bless and pray for those whom you love but more so “bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.”
Fourth, a Christian hero is someone who O – Obeys the will of God.
How can we know the will of God? The will of God is revealed in the Bible. As we read the Bible, let us pray, meditate, and discern what God is revealing to us. The Holy Spirit will surely make it known to us.
May we all be a Christian hero!
Sincerely,
