“We are cleansed by the blood of Jesus” – Seeds of Faith – February 8, 2021

When you clean your bike or have a car wash or clean the bathroom, you use cleaning materials such as degreasers or detergents and water. There are specific items that could clean specific areas or things.
Why then was the blood of Jesus Christ needed to cleanse us? 1 John 1:7 tells us that “… the blood of Jesus purifies us from all sin.”
First, it is the requirement of the law.
The law of Moses, as reiterated by Hebrews 9:22, “requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”
This is the reason why there were animal sacrifices in the Temple during the Old Testament. And this is why Jesus is the sacrifice that was once and for all.
Second, the blood in our body has amazing functions that has spiritual meanings.
According to science, blood transports oxygen and nutrients to the lungs and tissues. It also forms blood clots to prevent excess blood loss. It is blood that carries cells and antibodies to fight infection. It also bringgs waste products to the kidneys and liver, which filter and clean the blood. And finally, it regulates body temperature.
Indeed all these functions relate to the work of Jesus Christ in our lives. It is Jesus that gives us life eternal. It is Jesus that protects us from harm. It is Jesus that cleanse us from all sins. So, medical science affirms what Jesus Christ has done for us, and continues to do so.
May God bless us all!
