“Send Me” – Seeds of Faith – October 3, 2022

October is Mission Month. The Reformation Day is on October 31. The Roman Catholic, on the other hand, also celebrates the 2nd to the last Sunday of October as Mission Sunday.
In relation to missionary phrase “Send Me”, we can formulate a lot of questions.
First, Who sends? The answer is “God.”
In Isaiah 6:8, it is very clear that it is God who calls us to do a specific work, and send us to do it.
Paul also reminds us in Ephesians 4:11 that Christ has called us for specific purposes – “So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers…” Aside from this callings, we can also reflect that it is also God who is calling us to become a Christian engineer, a Christian accountant, a Christian entrepreneur, and many more.
So, let us remember that it is God who sends us out to fulfill His purpose.
Second, What for? The answer is “to spread the Gospel.”
The Gospel is the Good News of Salvation in Jesus Christ. John 3:16 summarizes what the Gospel is — “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” So, we need to tell others about God’s love, and that we should accept Jesus Christ in our lives.
Third, Why me? The answer is “Why not?”
Every Christian is a missionary. We have been saved from eternal damnation because someone shared the Gospel to us. In turn, it is our responsibility to share the Gospel to others. We cannot delegate this responsibility to others.
Fourth, How? The answer is “the Holy Spirit will guide us.”
In John 14:26 Jesus said, “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” Furthermore, Jesus said in John 16:13, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth…”
So, it is clear that the Holy Spirit will guide us. There are many proofs in the book of Acts that the Holy Spirit guided the early Christians. And the same Holy Spirit that guided them is also the same Holy Spirit who is guiding us right now.
Are we ready to answer God’s call by saying, “Send Me!”?
May God bless us all!
Sincerely,
