“Promises…” – Seeds of Faith – July 23, 2018

Dear friends,
One of the things that I noticed in the 3rd SONA (State of the Nation Address) of the President of the Republic of the Philippines is the statement about “promises.” He said that the pervious administrations declared that Mindanao is the land of promise, and what they did was just to continue in making promises, promises and promises without fulfilling those promises.
What about God? The Bible tells us that God is true to His promises. Joshua 23:14 declares, “… You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the LORD your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.”
If God then is faithful to fulfill all the promises that He has made as recorded in the Bible, we who believe in God can hold on to the following promises:
First, the promise of God’s love.
Paul wrote, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).
Second, the promise that God has a wonderful plan and purpose for us.
We can claim the promise of God to Jeremiah – “For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Third, the promise that God will provide for our needs, and will be there for us.
The writer of Hebrews encourages us to “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you”” (Hebrews 13:5). This verse re-echoes what was written in Deuteronomy 31:6 and Joshua 1:5.
Fourth, the promise that those who believe in Jesus Christ will have salvation and eternal life.
The promise of Jesus to Nicodemus is also true to us –  “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
For sure there are many promises that we can see in the Bible. I encourage you to find these promises in the Bible, and be assured that God will fulfill His promises in your life.
Sincerely,
