It has been a year since the pandemic was declared by the WHO. The COVID-19 has changed a lot of aspects of our lives. Humanity has now become adept in adjusting to whatever protocols that are necessary to survive.
The Christians during New Testament times were also living in a very volatile situation. We should learn from them on how to approach any situation. What lessons can we learn from them?
First, the 1st century Christians turned the persecutions into blessings.
Acts 8:4 tells us that “Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went.” This passage reminds us that in whatever situation we are in, we can share the Gospel.
If you are facing a difficult situation right now, ask yourself on how it could help you in spreading God’s Word.
Second, the 1st century Christians did not forget to gather together to worship God, read the Scriptures and pray.
Acts 2:42 gives us a vivid description of their situation – “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” This passage is a great reminder to all of us that in spite of our situation, we should find a way to pray, read the Bible and worship God.
The 1st century Christians were in a very difficult situation compared to us. They thrived in their difficult situation because their faith in Jesus led them to find ways to glorify God. Let us learn from them and may we thrive as well!
May God bless us all!
Sincerely,
