The Great Commission was given by Jesus before His ascension. In the Christian calendar, the Ascension of Jesus Christ is celebrated 40 days after His resurrection.
What lessons can we learn from the last mandate of Jesus Christ?
First, we must embrace the divine mandate.
The Great Commission is not just a suggestion; it is a divine mandate given by Jesus Himself to His followers. We should embrace this calling with a deep understanding of its significance.
We are tasked with spreading the good news of salvation to all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is a privilege and a responsibility that we should undertake with reverence and determination.
Second, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit.
We are not expected to fulfill the Great Commission in our own strength. Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to empower us for this mission.
We must rely on the Spirit’s guidance, wisdom, and power as we step out in faith to share the gospel. It is through the Spirit’s work in us and through us that lives are transformed and nations are impacted.
Third, we should do intentional discipleship.
The Great Commission is not just about making converts; it is about making disciples. We are called to invest in the lives of others, teaching them to obey everything that Jesus commanded.
This intentional discipleship leads to multiplication as disciples make more disciples, spreading the kingdom of God exponentially. Let us be committed to not only sharing the gospel but also nurturing and equipping others to do the same, ensuring a legacy of faith that continues for generations to come.
May we be faithful stewards of this mission, living out the gospel in both word and deed, until the whole world hears and responds to the message of salvation in Jesus Christ.
May God bless us all!
Sincerely,
