A wedding is one of the joyous celebrations that mankind has experienced. We prepare so much for a one-day activity that we sometimes forget about preparing for what comes after, and that is marriage.
What can we learn from Adam and Eve, the first couple?
First, walk with God daily.
In Genesis 3:8 we can see that Adam and Eve hid from God. The story behind this is that before they disobeyed God, the couple were walking daily with God.
But when they fell, they forgot their daily walk with God. The verse says, “Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.”
The good thing here is that God came looking for them. So, the message here is very clear – do not forget your daily walk with God. If you will, God will come looking for you.
Second, manage your household together.
Genesis 1:28 says, God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground. ” The verse does not say that the responsibility was given to the husband or to the wife. God gave both of them the responsibility.
So, let us remember that God is expecting that the husband should not delegate the responsibility to the wife, or vice versa. God is expecting us to responsible stewards.
Let us not just prepare for the wedding day, but more importantly, let us prepare for the life-long marriage.
May God bless us all!
Sincerely,
