“Some things to remember about the BIRTH of Jesus” – Seeds of Faith – December 26, 2022

In Matthew 1:21, an angel of the Lord told Joseph through a dream that Mary will give birth to a son, and they are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.

What is the meaning of the BIRTH of Jesus Christ? Here are 5 things to remember in relation to the BIRTH of our Lord and Savior.

His BIRTH:

B – BRINGS good news.

In Luke 2:10, the angel told the shepherds about the good news that will bring great joy. The good news is that the Savior has been born, and when we receive Jesus in our lives, we will have the gift of salvation.

I – ILLUMINES us from darkness.

John 1:4 to 5 tells us that Jesus is the Light of the world. “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

R – REDEEMS us from sin.

Titus 2:14 tells us that when Jesus came, there was redemption. Jesus “gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”

T – TEACHES us to trust God.

In Galatians 4, Paul teaches us that “in the fullness of time” God sent His son Jesus Christ to redeem us and those who receive Him will have the right to be called children of God. So, let us trust God’s timing in our lives.

H – HEALS our brokenness.

In Luke 4:18, Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah that the Messiah will bring healing. Jesus said that the Spirit of the Lord is upon him and He has been “sent to heal the brokenhearted.” This also reminds us that Jesus, our Great Shepherd, heals the brokenhearted and binds up our wounds as Psalm 147:3 says.

Of course there are so many meaningful things to remember about the birth of Jesus. In this Christmas season, let us accept Jesus Christ, the greatest gift we could ever receive.

Merry Christmas everyone!
