As we celebrate the love month, let us reflect upon the profound essence of love. We need to recognize that our God is not only a God of love but also a God of justice. In the scriptures, we are reminded that love and justice are intertwined, guiding us towards a life that reflects the divine nature of our Creator.
The Apostle John affirms in 1 John 4:8 that “God is love.” This love, however, is not a passive or indifferent sentiment; rather, it is an active force that compels us to seek righteousness and pursue justice. Love, when deeply rooted in our hearts, propels us to do what is right and just, mirroring the character of our Heavenly Father.
As we approach the anniversary of the People Power Revolution on Feb 25, a pivotal moment in Philippine history, we find ourselves in a unique circumstance where the current government has chosen not to recognize it as a holiday for the first time. In such times, we are called to reflect on the principles of justice and the role of love in advocating for what is right.
The struggle for justice and freedom is woven into the fabric of our nation’s story, and it is our duty, guided by the love of God, to stand for what is just and fair. The absence of a holiday marking the People Power Revolution challenges us to consider the deeper implications of justice and our commitment to upholding it.
In Proverbs 21:3, we are reminded, “To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” Love calls us to action, to stand for truth and justice even in the face of challenges. Our response to these situations should be guided by the love that emanates from the very heart of God.
Let us, as a community, pray for discernment and courage. May the love of God inspire us to pursue justice in our individual lives and in our society, understanding that true love is not passive but actively seeks the well-being of all. In times of uncertainty, let our love shine brightly, for in doing so, we reflect the nature of our just and loving God.
May God bless us all!
Sincerely,
