Dear friends,

In the book of Revelation, we have been given by John an opportunity to see eternity. John, in a vision, was given by God a very rare privilege to see what is happening in heaven. One of the things that we can notice in heaven is about singing.

We can see three things in Revelation 5:6-14:

First, singing is what we will be doing throughout eternity.

Revelation 5:11-12 say, “Then I looked again, and I heard the voices of thousands and millions of angels around the throne and of the living beings and the elders. And they sang in a mighty chorus…”

Imagine a choir with millions of voices singing praises to God. As affirmed by John, singing is part of the worship experience. We cannot detach singing and worship. Let us start singing now because this is what we will do throughout eternity.

Second, our singing here on Earth can be heard in heaven.

Revelation 5:13 implies that when we sing praises to God, our voices reach heaven — “And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: “Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.”

Let us not stop singing in our churches, homes and wherever we are. We are assured by this verse that our singing can be heard in heaven.

Third, our singing should be centered on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Revelation 5:9-10,12 remind us that the content of our song should be focused on Jesus Christ – “And they sang a new song with these words: “You are worthy to take the scroll and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth.” And they sang in a mighty chorus: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.”

This means that when we sing, we must remember that it is not for us or for the audience; it is for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Let us continue in singing from our innermost being because at the end we are assured that God is listening.
