Have you ever ask yourself why would God limit our time here on Earth? Currently, the United Nations Population Division puts the life expectancy at 73.2 years. Women live longer at 75.6 years while the life expectancy of men is 70.8 years. You can read also people living more than 100 years old. Even Methuselah died at the age of 969 in the Bible.

So, it’s very clear that our time in this world is limited. Why would God do this? What can the Bible say about this?

First, if time is limited in this world, then every moment of our lives is precious.

If we live forever in this Earth, then you can just do whatever you want. You may not want to finish your studies in a certain time frame anymore because you can simply come back to school after 1000 years or more.

Ecclesiastes 3 tells us that there is a time for everything. There is a time to be born and a time to die. If this is so, then let treasure every moment of our lives with our loved ones because our time in this world has an expiration date.

Second, if time is limited in this world, then we must prepare ourselves for comes next, and that is eternity.

The Bible is very clear that there are two eternal destinations for each one of us. It’s either heaven or hell.

We may not hear or read much nowadays about hell because people only wants to hear or read about heaven. But we have to be reminded that hell is real. Jesus tells about the story of Lazarus and a greedy rich man. The crooked rich man went to hell, and Lazarus went to heaven. The one that went to hell begged that his 5 brothers should be told that hell is real, and that they turn away from their wickedness so that it will not become their eternal destination.

Our eternity with Jesus Christ has already started the moment we accepted Him as our personal Lord and Savior. Let us share Jesus to others so that they too will be prepared for the life after death.
