A lot of us want to start this New Year right. Here are 5 things that can help us:
R – Read the Bible.
If we believe that the Bible is the Word of God, then we should commit to reading it daily. How many books have you finished reading already? Since Kindergarten we have already finished reading a lot of textbooks. Then, why is it that some of us have not finished reading the Bible yet?
I – Invest your time in spiritual activities.
Investment is a financial term. The meaning of investment is that when you put in some money, it will hopefully grow bigger. You will have a profit.
So, the question is – do you want to grow spiritually? If yes, then invest your time in spiritual activities.
G – Go and fulfill God’s purpose in your life.
We must believe that God has created each one of us with a specific purpose. Ask God to reveal to you what is your purpose in life. Once you know it, then ask the Holy Spirit to empower you so that you may fulfill it in your lifetime. A person who has no regrets later in life is someone who knew that he or she has fulfilled his or her God-given purpose.
H – Help when you can.
In Proverbs 3:27, King Solomon said, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.” This means that there will always be somebody who is in need of our help in this world. Solomon is teaching us that we always have something to help others.
So, do not delay your help to somebody out there.
Paul in Galatians 6:9-10 tells us that we must be weary in doing good for God will bless us in the right time. Paul wrote, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
T – Turn away from our wicked ways.
We have to admit that we are sinful and there are sins that we have not repented. We have to name our sins, ask for forgiveness and turn away from them. Jesus said that He came to this world so that sinners may repent.
Let us all pray that we will start this New Year right! Happy New Year everyone!
Sincerely,
